Wushu Had Been Established in Karnataka in 1989. Dr. V. C. Charantimath, a Former MLA of Bagalkot, Chairman of B V V Sangha Bagalkot and President of Karnataka Wushu Association, Contributed a lot in the Development of Wushu In Karnataka. With the Hard work and efforts of Mr. Ashoka D. Mokashi, Founder General Secretary of Karnataka Wushu Association, Wushu has been Expanded 24 units across the Karnataka. Wushu is Recognized by Sports Authority of Karnataka and Affiliated with Karnataka Olympic Association in 2013. The Karnataka Wushu Association's founder, Mr. Ashoka D. Mokashi, was honored to be elected as the Joint Secretary of the Wushu Association of India for his more than 34 years of tireless efforts to promote wushu in the state.

The state Wushu Institute has many State, National and international Medal Winners and also Skilled International, National, NIS and State wushu Sports coaches. The State Wushu Association organized around 22 State Wushu championships for Senior, Junior and Sub junior Boys & Girls. Ever year wushu Players participate in State, National & International Wushu championships & Medal winners are provided with scholarship by the sports department and get admissions to professional courses under sports reservation in Common Entrance Test (CET) and availing the Reimbursement of educational Fee.
